For a large part, BC is not a gossip site/blog. Ya’all know that, right? We dig facts, work on them a bit and then share with you. We know and appreciate the fact that gossip can be a hair lifting experience but we choose instead to work with facts. Even the piece that follows here is not a typical day for BC. But of course when we see key search words in our spy book, we have to respond just to be fair to our readers and supporters. This is one of those cases.
Here is one fact; two Tanzanian stars [can we call them lovebirds?] That have made their on and off relationship a matter of public interest, former beauty queen Wema Sepetu and artist/musician Diamond Platnumz are back together. After a lengthy speculation and mind wrecking guess works to their fans, this video posted by Wema through her Instagram account [wemasepetu] followed by another post showing the same bed and same pillow cases etc confirmed what some have known for months now. It wasn’t a matter of if but when are they back together. They are.
Diamond, in a different ways, has called what is going on a “movie”. We could agree with him and write a script. They fell in love. Then out of love. Theirs became a talk of the town. Few years younger to Wema, Diamond was on the way to the top where I believe he sits right now[of course there are debates about that]. According to his own confessions, he barely spoke English. She took matters in her own hand and decided to be his teacher. She did well.
While Diamond was just starting, she had been there and done that. Fame [and scandals] was not new to her. In 2006 she was crowned Miss Tanzania a title that, in our country, it automatically makes you an overnight celebrity. The next day, Shigongo’s men and women are at your doorsteps digging headlines like how a young boy with a flashlight on his forehead digs Tanzanite at Mererani. And for Wema, they dug pretty well. Her private room businesses were no longer private.
Wema and Diamond became regulars on gossip blogs and gossip newspapers. You could hardly pick or even sneak peak a daily gossip newspaper and miss a hint of their “businesses”. Word on the street were Diamond and Wema were the “leakers “of their own stories. And who wouldn’t agree especially with their supposedly private photos on front pages? Attention can be addictive just like drugs. Mike Tyson [former heavyweight champion of the world wrote it very well in his autobiography Undisputed Truth]
Then, what was a very public relationship of two local celebrities started becoming rocky. The ocean was no longer clear and just like how Jesus’s 12 disciples woke him up to calm down the storm, these two needed almost the same kind of miracle to survive. The very danger of making their private businesses public started to haunt them. Fans needed to hear it all and hear it from them. Are you guys still together?!
In the beginning it was hard to hear a confession. However, with a magical healing from the best healer [TIME], the craziness of walking separate ways, angst and no more sleep well honey messages became a reality. During that period, songs were made and performed [and may be misinterpreted like many other works of arts]. It is believed that this Diamond sang this song with a broken heart and it is a true story of his love and relationship with Wema. Then Diamond went public on interviews [remember the Sporah Show interview?] It was over and he said it why. Wema had broken his heart and broken the core principle of love [It is not for share]
Wema, on the other hand, kept or tried to keep it a bit decent and civil. But if anything, it was her personality that went viral. It was enough to show that her heart was broken too and she was ready to disown him and let go as hard as it seemed. Wema is known to keep company with other young men as friends. They probably helped her a lot in recovery time. She bounced back, created Endless Fame and Wema remained Wema…pretty much.
Meanwhile, The Number One singer had found a new love. It was from a TV Presenter called Penny. They were so much in love, so it seemed. Wema and Diamond a couple seemed to have no chance anymore. Shortly after, a big announcement was made. She was expecting. Was a wedding on the way? Diamond was going to be a father! Fans kept wondering. That pregnancy, however, was to evaporate.
What followed was expected but not in the way it turned out. Two teams were formed especially on social networks. There was/is #teamwema and #teampenny. Those who had gotten used to Diamond and Wema couple felt Penny had not only taken Wema’s boyfriend but almost had taken a piece of their hearts as well. Unfortunately, that is what we call die-hard fans. Ready for peace even more than ready for war. I see it all the time from my own sons who are die-hard fans for Justin Bieber.
From a distance like ocean waves at noon, things started getting sour between Diamond and Penny. Although not too much of details were initially put in public domain, when Diamond and Wema appeared together in China towards the end of last year, the movie that is a movie started to get extras. Directors, Managers, Script Writers etc gathered in one room and made decisions on a release date.
It was Christmas season [Boxing Day 26th December 2013] at Leaders Club in Dar-es-salaam when Diamond called Wema on stage and gave the fans a hint. She is whom he loves and wants to be with. Then Penny and her team were crushed. It was a new season and the movie script had flipped. You could almost see the flashing red, green and yellow lights flashing in Instagram servers. The die-hard fans saw an opportunity for a war of words guided closely with freedom of expression.
With the above video and what was written, it is fair [and acceptable] to confirm that Wema and Diamond are back together. How long will it last this time? Acheni movie iendelee….
